Mittersill Backcountry Area:

Cannon has the most open trails in NH for this weekend, and that doesn't even include the Mittersill Backcountry Area, which reopens at 8:30 today. In addition to the endless & legendary terrain, the forecast is calling for a mild day with temps in the 30s from summit-to-base. It may seem that spring is beginning to take over, but the extended forecast would prove otherwise - we're expecting to see some light accumulations of snow here on Mon/Tues, followed by a possible snowstorm on Wednesday night. Make sure to check out the Bern Slopestyle Competition at 12:30 in the Tossup Terrain Park...a champion will be crowned.
Saturday - We're scheduled to open with 71 trails, plus Mittersill, and all 10 lifts. Most primary lifts spin at 8:30, but the first-tracks Tram departs at 8:15. The secondary lifts open at 9 (view the lift report for a full lift schedule). Groomers plan to hit 55 of 71 trails overnight - expect mostly packed powder & loose granular surface conditions from top-to-bottom. Use caution on the ungroomed terrain and stay on open trails only. Please note that racing/training will be in progress on Timezone, Gary's, Banshee, and Turnpike. Time Zone will remain closed to the public for the day, along with the Tossup Terrain Park from approximately 11-2 for the slopestyle competition.
